EXPERIENCES
castellers.jpg Immerse yourself in traditions
like one of the locals Barcelona is a Mediterranean city that takes to its streets and squares to celebrate its main festivals which feature events for all age groups, from the morning to the early hours.

Dance next to the gegants (costumed figures wearing giant papier-mâché heads), run with the correfocs (colourful processions featuring loud music and fireworks), and the dragons. Be amazed at the human towers, or castellers, learn to dance the typical Catalan dance, the sardana, in one of the city’s squares, and take part in the festivals like one of the community. You’ll be welcome!

Gràcia Festival – 15th to 21st August
Sants Festival – 22nd to 31st August
Mercè Festival – 22nd to 25th September

DID YOU KNOW …?
barca.jpg Barça’s victories have been celebrated at the Canaletes fountain since 1930 It is said that years ago Barça fans used to go and look at the results of the day’s matches that were displayed on a blackboard outside the offices of the sport newspaper El Diario Deportivo La Rambla, which was just across the road from the Canaletes fountain.

On 22nd August join the Barça fans and don’t miss the 46th Joan Gamper Trophy Estrella Damm, where the new squad for the 2012 season will be unveiled.

Oh! And remember to drink from the fountain because it is said that anyone who does so will return to Barcelona.
